Literature Text

I can taste your innocence
clinging to my tongue
like warm cream. Beneath my lips,
you squirm, shedding first skin.

Yet as we lay afterwards,
I am the one shaking.
Like a father, you hold me steady.
Like my father
at the pool,
coaching me on how to calm
my shivering after
wet skin hit air.
"Breathe. Breathe. Breathe."
I got inspired yesterday at work, when I was able to sit in front of the fireplace and just read poetry and write because business was so slow.

This was unexpected. Strange situations, life puts us through. The images, especially in the first half, are vivid and a little unapologetic, and the breaks make for a quick, breathless feel. Nice work.
